Volunteer Opportunities
It is extremely exciting, however not surprising, to see how the Lord provides. Let me share with you a few of the wonderful things that the Lord has been doing.
On March 16-18 we were having the house site graded and prepped, but we didn’t have any money and the man doing the work knew that. That very day a check for what it would cost for him to do the work came in the mail! We were also able to sell some of the logs from the property to offset the cost. Praise the Lord! Friday, March 19th, in preparation for the group from Faith Baptist coming in from Greenville, Michigan on the 20th, I was on the way to the inspections department to purchase the permit to begin the foundation, again with no money. We stopped to check the mail on the way out, and there was a check to cover the cost! What more can I say except Praise the Lord! Once the group got here, they were all ready to go to work the night that they arrived. I almost had to lock them in the building to keep them from working through the night. Just kidding! But they were anxious to get some things done that week. Originally they had planned to come down to construct the house; however, the weather and the timing did not work out. We weren’t ready for that.
Monday with a 70% chance of rain, it didn’t look as if we’d be able to work on digging the footers. But again the Lord worked it out, held off the rain, and with some determination from the Greenville guys, we were able to dig the footers and get an inspection so that we could pour the footers on Tuesday. In the midst of all of this, the three ladies of this group were preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner while painting and cleaning one of the houses, preparing for a new family to move in, as well as pulling weeds and gardening. The rest of the six guys in the group moved the chicken house, installed and trimmed out ceilings in two basement apartments. That’s (2) 10’x40’ areas. They also prepped the ceiling area in the shop to be enclosed. Wednesday (That’s right all of that by Tuesday -“WOW”) Wednesday, all hands on deck to get the foundation in place. With a lot of prayer, because you guessed it, no money or materials the Lord again provided the materials that we could lay the block work for the foundation by Friday night.
It’s always a blessing to see the attitude of “W.I.T.” (Whatever It Takes), our theme for this year, and a strong desire to see the Lord’s hand at work, and give Him all of the praise, honor and glory. That’s what blesses our hearts here at Siloam. Too often it seems so easy to get caught up in the daily rat race in a hurry up mentality and miss completely the blessing that He has in store for us. He is able to provide what we need for today. That has been proven again this past week in the materials, the laborers, and the finances, and also the good weather. Thanks to Our Lord and Savior and all that who are open to the moving of the Holy Spirit.
The next step in the building process will be that over the next few days a group will be coming out to lay the brick for the foundation and that portion will be complete. Then we will be able to proceed with construction As the Lord provides.
Thank you,
Mike Rich
